The Challenge

The Roll Management system tracks the complete life cycle of rolls in a hot rolling mill. This task is complex because it involves a connection to the underlying automation to acquire the tons being accumulated, checking gap measurements and keeping track of what rolls/stands and grooves are being used while at the same time manage all the events that are generated in the roll shop itself.

The Solution

The Roll Management system is designed around a central database, connects to PLCs or SCADAs through OPC and present modern web data entries based on HTML5 and javascript.

The HMI is designed as a touch application to be integrated into the mill pulpit although it can also be used in regular desktop PC.

Tracks the life cycle of rolls and other equipment its installation to its repairs in the rollshop.

This application connects with the mill PLCs and accumulates tons and hours on the rolls currently being used. It also permits the supervision of gaps, assignment of grooves and management of the complete inventory of rolls and related equipment.
